Activity 1 Remember - Netiquette: privacy and copyright

All the 6 activities I have designed are connected and are meant for the same class. Level: For 9th-grade L2 learners - Low-level. Time: 1 session (60 minutes). Norwegian curriculum: Kjenne til personvern og opphavsrett og velge og bruke innhold fra forskjellige kilder på en etterprøvbar måte.  Goal:  You should be able to retrieve information about privacy and copyright on the website given by the teacher.  You should know why privacy and copyright are important. Activity 2 Understanding - Grammar

Level: 9th-Grade L2 learners - Low-level/Mid-level. Time: 1 session (60 minutes). Norwegian curriculum: velge ulike digitale ressurser og andre hjelpemidler, og bruke dem på en selvstendig måte i egen språklæring. Goal:  You should be able to use your smartphone independently for learning. You should be able to understand how to use the wh-questions right. Technologies: Smartboard - Using the smartboard as a way to introduce the app makes it easier and more understandable for the students. They will be able to see it clearly and be given a tour through the app.  Smartphone - I want the students to know that there are a lot of ways to use their smartphone. That they can use it for learning and help when they need it. The App: Grammar - I choose the Grammar app because it was the best one of those I could find. It is easy to understand and it is easy to use. It also had some good tasks that the students could work with.  The studen...

Activity 3 Applying - Interview

Level: 9th-grade L2 learners - Mid-level. Time: 1 session (60 minutes) Norwegian curriculum: Velge og bruke ulike lytte og talestrategier tilpasset formålet.  Innlede, holde i gang og avslutte samtaler om forskjellige emner ved å stille spørsmål og følge opp innspill. Goal: You should know what an interview is and how to do it. You should be able to interview a student about a specific topic. You should be able to ask questions and follow up on the answers. Technologies: Computer  Youtube - Youtube is a great way for the students to find and research interviews, and for the teacher to show them interviews. Here they can watch different ways to be interviewed and to give an interview.  Phone/camera - They have the opportunity to take a photo to go with the interview, that is why they need a phone or a camera. Some might not have it, but the computer has a camera. So if they do not have a phone or a camera, they can use a computer.  Into: ...

Activity 4 Analyzing - Writing assignment

Level: 9th-grade L2 learners - Mid-level Time: 2 sessions (60 minutes each) Norwegian curriculum: Bruke egne notater og forskjellige kilder som grunnlag for skriving.  Goal: You should be able to interview a classmate about a subject. You should be able to find more information about the subject online. You should be able to organize the information you have and write an article.  Technologies: Computer Google I want the students to take the interview a little further. This time they should interview a classmate about a hobby or interest. They should take notes. Then they should read up on the subject so that they have enough information to write down the interview in a news article. They will have access to a computer in the Through and Beyond stages. Activity 5 Evaluating - Debate

Level: 9th-grade L2 learners - Higher level. Time: 1 session (60 minutes) Norwegian curriculum: uttrykke seg med flyt og sammenheng tilpasset formål og situasjon. uttrykke og begrunne egen mening om forskjellige emner. lese, forstå og vurdere ulike typer tekster av varierende omfang om forskjellige emner. Goals: You should be able to express yourself and make your statement heard. You should be able to argue your point. You should be able to read, understand and be able to debate the text/blog you have chosen.  Technologies: Computer Blogs -Since they do not have that much time to prepare for this debate, I want the students to be able to debate something that they already have knowledge about and that interest them. That is why I chose blogs. Activity 6 Creating - News report

Level:  9th-grade L2 learners - Higher level. Time: 4 sessions (60 minutes each) Norwegian curriculum: Bruke egne notater og forskjellige kilder som grunnlag for skriving. Brukde digitale verktøy og formkrav for informasjonsbehandling, tekstproduksjon og kommunikasjon. Velge digitale ressurser og andre hjelpemidler, og bruke dem på en selvstendig måte i egen språklæring.  Goals: You should be able to use your own notes and other resources in order to make a news report.  You should be able to know who Rosa Park and Martin Luther King Jr. are.  You should be able to use the phone/camera and the computer to make a video.
